According to the Bible, the heart is the center not only of spiritual activity, but of all human life.

SEEKING GOD – “ in keeping with the law and the commandments he seek his God.

  • HE DID WITH ALL HIS HEART   – Inquiring of and yearning for Him …

  • HE WAS BLESSED --  and he prospered

IMPORTANT REASONS WHY WE NEED THE SCRIPTURES IN OUR HEARTS

  • TO KEEP US FROM SINNING

Psalm 119:11 (NLT)  I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

  • IT GIVES WISDOM

2 Timothy 3:15 (NLT) “You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.

  • IT GIVES REAL JOY

Jeremiah 15:16 (NLT)   “When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, …

  • IT IS OUR POWER OF ATTORNEY

John 15:7 (NLT) But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

  • IT SHOWS US HOW TO BE SAVED

Romans 10:9 (NLT) If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

  • IT WARNS US TO WATCH OUR HEART

Matthew 15:18-19 18  But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you.

19  For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.

LOVING GOD WITH ALL OUR MIND!

MARK 12:30 “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.”

What People Forget

I was relieved to find out that I’m not the only one who forgets things. Everyone does at one time or another, according to Karen Bolla, A Johns Hopkins researcher. These are the things people most often forget:

  1. Names-----------------83%

  2. Where something is---60%

  3. Telephone numbers---57%

  4. Words-------------------53%

  5. What was said----------49%

  6. Faces--------------------42%

And if you can’t remember whether you’ve just done something, you join 38 percent of the population.

GOD CREATED US TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL OUR MIND!

(OUR MIND = THOUGHTS)

  • Loving God with our mind includes meditating on the Word.

  • Loving God includes choosing to forget or remember.

JUDE 1:17 “Beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles.

JOHN 8:32“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free [liberate the heart].”

Phil. 3:13 “One thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward”.

GOD’S PLANS CAUSE US TO FOCUS ON HIM!

(OUR MIND = THOUGHTS)

  • Paul’s Mind was fascinated with God by meditating on Jesus and His plans.

Romans.11:33 “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments [decisions] and His ways past finding out!

WHAT ARE HIS FACINATIONS ABOUT JESUS PLANS?

  • IT WAS DEEP ---Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
  • IT WAS UNSEARCHABLE ---are His judgments [decisions]

  • IT WAS HARD TO KNOW --- and His ways past finding out!

LOVING GOD MEANS WE WANT FOCUS ON HIM!

(Moses cried out to see God’s glory and to understand His ways )

Exodus. 33:18 “And he [Moses] said, “Please, show me Your glory.”

Psalms. 103:7“He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.”

MOSES ATTITUDE TO UNDERSTANDING GOD?

  • HE CRIED OUT --- And he [Moses] said, “Please, show me Your glory.”!
  • HIS DESIRE IS TO UNDERSTAND HIS WAYS --- “He made known His ways to Moses,

  • UNLIKE ISRAEL, THEY ONLY KNEW ABOUT HIS ACTS --- His acts to the children of Israel.”!

GOD CREATED US TO DESIRE TO KNOW HIM!
(When we seek revelation of God as one who seeks hidden treasure, we find delight in Him.)

Proverbs 2:2-5 Apply your heart to understanding; 3 yes, if you cry out ... and lift up your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

WHAT SHOULD BE OUR ATTITUDE TO KNOWING GOD?

  • APPLY --- “our heart to understanding” !
  • CRY OUT --- “yes, if you cry out … and lift up your voice for understanding,

  • SEEK --- “if you seek her as silver”!
  • SEARCH --- “and search for her as for hidden treasures”

WHAT WILL BE THE RESULT?

  • Proverbs 2:5 “then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”

RESULTS OF LOVING GOD WITH ALL OUR M.I.N.D.

WE WILL:

  • MEDITATE

Joshua 1:8 (GW) “Never stop reciting these teachings. You must think about them night and day so that you will faithfully do everything written in them. Only then will you prosper and succeed.

  • 2. INVESTIGATE.

Psalm 37:25 (MSG) 25 I once was young, now I'm a graybeard— not once have I seen an abandoned believer, or his kids out roaming the streets.

  • 3. NEGOTIATE

Acts 3:6 (NKJV) 6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

  • 4. DREAM

Acts 2:17 (GW) 17 ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will speak what God has revealed. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.
